How to host a website?

Once you have created your website, you will need to select a Web Hosting Provider or to host your site on your home PC.

1. Select a reliable Web Hosting provider which will fulfill your requirements as technology (Windows hosting, Linux hosting), location, support, price etc…

2. Get a Web Hosting plan (Shared hosting, Dedicated hosting). After that you usually will receive a web address as yourname.hostingprovidername.com.

3. Deploy/Copy copy your site files/database on hosting space. This could be done by FTP or through the hosting control panel.

4. You already could see your website at yourname.hostingprovidername.com

5. If you would like to have your own website name as yourname.com you should buy a domain name from domain name register. Some Web hosting providers sell or provide free domain name with their hosting plans.

6. Point your domain to your Web Server. This could be done if you change DNS servers or to create a new A record in the domain name settings (control panel).

1. Get a good and reliable Internet connection.

2. Get a static IP address for your PC. Usually you could get such from your ISP.

3. Allow external connections on port 80(default http port) in your firewall settings.

5. If you would like to have your own website name as yourname.com you should buy a domain name.

6. Point your domain to your Web Server (IP address). This could be done if you change DNS servers or to create a new A record in the domain name settings (control panel).

7. Now you could access your website by typing yourname.com in your web browser.
