Private equity firm buys Chicago Web hosting company – 12/17/2013

Chicago-based Hostway Corp., which helps small and medium-sized businesses with information technology and Web hosting, announced Monday it has been acquired by Connecticut private equity firm Littlejohn & Co.

The Web hosting provider President John Martis said the company looks forward to the additional resources Littlejohn will provide. Hostway, which employee 400 people in North America and Bulgaria, including 50 in Chicago, said it has for more than 500,000 small-to-midsized clients.

Aaron Hollobaugh, vice president of marketing and sales for Hostway, said the acquisition “is all about growth.”

“It’s access to additional capital to redefine the user experience … and create a well-recognized platform,” Hollobaugh said.
