The UK2 Group has announced the live deployment of a sophisticated Cloud-driven Intranet system designed to connect hundreds of employees across the United States and Europe.
The Intranet will service their employees in the U.S and existing operations in the United Kingdom and other areas on the European continent, including the Ukraine.
The enterprise employee portal was engineered from the ground-up, and includes a number of unique features pioneered by their internal IT development team.
“It allows our various business units to tightly coordinate global departmental news, calendar events, multimedia and policy information under one central location,” said Jeff Hunsaker, President of US Operations.
“It will also allow us to develop sophisticated usage patterns offering insights into operational bottlenecks in our accounting, marketing, sales and IT divisions.”
A recent Intranet 2.0 Global Survey confirms that only 15% of large organizations have deployed a full employee portal. This confirms the growing status of UK2 group as a technology leader in the arena of web hosting and general IT operations.
Recent findings at the Intranet Insider World Tour In New York City suggest an enterprise may save up to $100,000 in paper costs per year by implementing an Intranet.
The UK2 Group expects significant cost savings along with further gains in employee productivity. The customized Intranet is also another example of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model driving the cloud computing revolution.
“Besides offering cloud-based web hosting services through a number of its brands, the UK2 Group used the latest open-source technologies to build, test and deploy the SaaS employee portal,” said Mr. Hunsaker.
The UK2 Group intends adding a range of new social networking features to the cloud intranet throughout the course of 2012, aimed at keeping employees fully engaged on the Intranet.
